Residential Energy Audits
The City's energy audit program is completed at no cost for all City of Elizabeth City utility customers. Energy audits will be conducted onsite at the customer's home. Customers will receive ongoing energy education and will also receive a FREE energy kit.
The purpose of an Energy Audit is to:
- Identify the following for each energy using device: type, size, condition and rate of energy consumption;
- Recommend appropriate energy conservation, operation and maintenance procedures;
- Note current and potential health and safety issues;
- Explain behavioral changes that will reduce energy waste;
- Estimate labor and material costs for energy retrofits;
- Project savings expected from energy retrofits;
- Provide a written record of decision making.
